Breast prosthesis

Breast augmentation with the use of silicone prostheses is one of the most requested surgeries by women.

There are different types of prostheses on the market, in my practice, I use round and anatomical prostheses (in the form of a? Drop?).

The choice of the type of implant will depend on the anatomy and preference of the patient. If the patient seeks to have a natural result, the anatomical one is recommended, since the appearance will be more similar to that of a non-operated breast, remembering that the upper pole of the breast will not increase due to its minimal projection in its upper part.
In cases where the desire of the patient is to increase the size of her breasts in all dimensions and have more projection in the upper pole, the indication is the round prosthesis, this varies its projection depending on the needs of each patient.

  • With the appropriate technique on the part of the surgeon, the patient will be able to get back to her daily activities in 24 hours, without the need to request sick leave.
  • It is important to take the prescribed medication every 4/6 hours to maintain a good level of analgesia, as well as antibiotics, to prevent any infection.
  • The patient must wear the bra for the first month 24 hours a day, and its use is indicated up to 2-3 months depending on the case.
  • It is important to avoid exercises that involve jumping in the first months: running, riding.
  • It is not necessary to remove stitches, since we use resorbable sutures.
  • Like any scar, it is important to take care of direct exposure to the sun for at least a minimum of 3 months.
